Leanne Elliott-Young joins TIME's inaugural AI leadership gathering to make the case for post-purchase commerce as fashion's next frontier.
Our CEO and Co-Founder, Leanne Elliott-Young, took the stage at the first-ever TIME100 AI Leadership Forum, joining a room of the people currently shaping how artificial intelligence is built, governed and used.
The panel wasn't about fashion. It was about responsibility — what it means to build powerful technology and use it in service of people, not instead of them. Leanne's contribution brought a perspective TIME's audience doesn't hear often: not AI as spectacle, but AI as infrastructure for something as ordinary, and as overlooked, as a garment.
The next frontier of fashion is post-purchase commerce. — Leanne Elliott-Young, TIME100 AI Leadership Forum
Her argument: every product about to carry a Digital Product Passport is also about to become a live surface for AI — not to replace the relationship between brand and customer, but to extend it, long after the sale is complete.
AI can transform every garment from a transaction into an ongoing conversation. — Leanne Elliott-Young, TIME100 AI Leadership Forum
And on what AI is actually for:
AI gives us the time and perspective to observe and hold up a mirror to what it means to be human. — Leanne Elliott-Young, TIME100 AI Leadership Forum
For Patina, standing on this stage wasn't about borrowing AI's momentum — it was about placing the same question the room was already asking (what should this technology be used for?) inside an industry that hasn't yet had to answer it. Fashion is about to give every product a digital identity. The Forum was a reminder that identity is only as good as what you choose to do with it.
Patina is the operating system for a product's life after purchase — built on the belief that products should become more valuable through their history, not less.
