Brand and owner research
The State of Post-Purchase Commerce
Research exploring what brands need to implement connected products—and what owners expect from them.

PATINA connects every product to authentication, care, repair, resale and its next owner.

Once a product is sold, most brands lose visibility of the item and its next owner. The customer relationship ends, while value continues to move through care, repair, resale and secondary markets.Digital Product Passports create a persistent product identity. PATINA puts that identity to commercial use.
Persistent product identityAwarded in UK Parliament
One persistent identity connects compliance data to the services, relationships and commercial opportunities available throughout the product’s life.

PATINA turns ownership from a transaction into a lasting relationship, helping brands create more value from the products already in the world and giving people more reasons to keep them.
PATINA combines direct policy participation, 15+ years working inside brands and first-party owner research to turn Digital Product Passports into working commercial infrastructure.

Common questions
PATINA (patina-os.com) is the post-purchase operating system for fashion and luxury brands, built on Digital Product Passports. It is the rules engine that decides what happens every time a product is scanned, for the life of that product. It powers resale, repair, take-back, authentication, warranty, care and loyalty after the point of sale.
No. The DPP is the legal requirement; PATINA is what brands do with it. Most DPP providers stop at a static compliance record. PATINA turns the same passport into a live post-purchase channel, so every scan can drive resale commission, repair revenue, first-party customer data and loyalty, not just display product information.
The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) has been in force since July 2024, and textiles are among the first product groups prioritised. The delegated act setting the detailed textile DPP requirements is expected in 2027. Brands will then have an 18-month window to comply. Brands that set up DPPs now get the commercial benefits before the deadline arrives.
Yes, if they sell into the EU. ESPR applies to products placed on the EU market, wherever the brand is based. A UK or US brand selling to EU customers, directly or through retailers, will need DPPs for those products once the textile rules apply.
Yes. Each product on PATINA has a unique, scannable identity linked to the brand's own records, so buyers and resellers can check it is genuine and see its history. That trust makes second-hand sales easier. Brands can run resale through their own channels and keep the value, rather than losing it to marketplaces.
PATINA is built for fashion, luxury and lifestyle brands of every size: SMEs, mid-market brands and global enterprises. Smaller brands can launch Digital Product Passports and post-purchase services without building their own infrastructure. Larger brands can run them across big catalogues and multiple markets, connected to their existing systems. Every brand starts with the core platform and adds modules such as resale, repair, take-back and loyalty as its programme grows.
